I have always liked the idea of having a personal blog. Something that helps others tackle the tricky technical problems that I have to solve for day to day as a developer. But, in practice, a blog is a lot of work. Writing a detailed article that fully explains a complex problem and its solution takes time. And time is something I have in short supply.
As a father of two young princesses, you have precious little time to devote to personal endeavors outside of normal working hours. Even as I write this paragraph on an idle Sunday afternoon, I am peppered with questions and requests for my attention. Fortunately, as our children have gotten older, they can play on their own in short-duration bursts. These times are glorious.
The other problem with blogs, is that I perhaps set too high a standard for myself. I will find other blogs that have long articles, with examples, and very detailed and helpful explanations. Were I to try and match that level of quality, each article would take me hours to complete. Hours I don’t have.
But, here we are: the seventh or eighth incarnation of my namesake blog. Hopefully with the newfound independence of my little ladies I can contribute to it more. But, if past is prologue, this will likely be the only post will find on these hallowed pages for months to come.
